Universum® Bremen
Discover your Universum®
In Universum® Bremen you go on an extraordinary journey of discovery into the world of science. More than 300 exhibits let you experience and understand scientific phenomena up close and with all your senses. The three subject areas Technology, Humans and Nature are waiting to be explored. Have fun!
You can explore in the open air as well! More fascinating stations on the subjects of water and wind invite you into the outdoor area. Do you know the Sky Window in our tower “Turm der Lüfte”? The 27 metres high tower does not only offer a great view over Bremen but also surprises with further interesting exhibits to try out and explore. Up high!
Striking experiments will amaze you in our daily science shows – this is science with a guaranteed fun factor. Small and big explorers should not miss these shows while on their visit to Universum® Bremen!
In the subject area Technology you will find out astonishing things about technical objects of everyday life and their way of functioning. They accompany you every day: toaster, electric toothbrush, mobile phone. But what actually makes them work? Find out about gearing mechanisms, electric motors and the effect of signal transmission. Which kind of technical innovation has the future got in store for us? Be curious! Make flashes of lightning, construct electric circuits, test sensors, conduct light!
In the area Humans you can learn a lot about yourself and discover new sides of you! All your senses are needed. More than 7 billion people live on our planet. Although we are very different from each other, we also have lots in common. Test your communicative abilities, test your perception and find out whether you are a team player. Learn new things about yourself and your body and find out more about your thoughts and actions. Many fascinating insights are waiting for you in the topic Humans!
In the subject area Nature you can discover nature in all its colours and shapes. Explore and understand fascinating natural phenomena and recognize common structures: why is grass green and why are mountains pointed? What do polar lights and fireflies have in common? Find out! Let ice grow, make clouds and observe a tornado. Will you take a chance and sit on our seat of nails?

Children’s area “Milchstraße”
Distant worlds, fascinating creatures and exciting phenomena: In the new children’s area at Universum® Bremen, there are plenty of unknown and unusual things for three to eight-year-old explorers to discover.
In the new “Milky Way”, children explore and test their own skills and also experience what it is like to research in a team. The experience area with around 30 hands-on stations on 220 square meters invites you to try things out and discover things. Just great!
The children’s area is open to families on weekdays from 1 p.m. It is open all day on weekends, public holidays and holidays. It can be booked for groups from Monday to Friday before noon. Please book well in advance under 0421-3346-0 or vertrieb@universum-bremen.de.
Outdoor area
In our outdoor area there are many exciting things to discover! Here, everything revolves around wind and water. A total of 5,000 m² are waiting to be explored. Enough space to really romp around and experiment under the open sky. The climbing wall, the crawling tunnel and many other exhibits demand agility and coordination.

Special exhibition ‘LOVE.’ from 7 June 2025!
What is LOVE for you? – Pure emotion? A frenzy? Pure science?
What happens in your brain when you love?
What does LOVE smell like? What does it taste like and does LOVE really make you blind?
What can the hormones oxytocin, dopamine and adrenaline do?
LOVE touches us all, it is changeable and multi-layered – and above all contradictory.
LOVE can be soothing, but also exciting, sometimes it is fleeting, sometimes it lasts a lifetime. In our new special exhibition ‘LOVE.’ you will learn surprising things about what is probably the most beautiful feeling in the world: from romantic LOVE to parent-child relationships and love games between animals. Naturally interactive and diverse!
Discover the many facets of LOVE, understand the biochemistry behind it and learn new things about sexuality. Amazing facts from the animal world are guaranteed to make you smile and marvel. Be part of it!
Seven themed areas with interactive exhibits, digital stations, objects, specimens and photo series invite you to form your own thoughts and ideas about LOVE. Test your empathy and find out what your emotional world is like. Get creative by designing your own love calligram to take home with you. LOVE IS ALL AROUND!
The exhibition was conceived and produced by the ‘Palais de la Découverte’ museum in Paris. For the presentation at Universum®, it has been expanded to include numerous interactive exhibits and given a new design.
The special exhibition is aimed at visitors aged ten and over. AOK Bremen/Bremerhaven is the official health partner of the exhibition.
Do you offer tours?
Visitors to our centre become scientists and explorers the moment they step through the door, so there are no tours in the traditional sense of the word. Take a stroll through our topic areas of Technology, Human and Nature as well as the special exhibition and outdoor area in your own time and as you prefer. If you have any questions, one of our “scouts” is always close by. Don’t hesitate to ask! Groups (school classes, youth groups, OAPs) are welcomed personally in the Universum® and given a short introduction. For a small surcharge, companies can also book a welcome and introduction! This guide might help you.
English?!
All of our exhibit and panel texts in the permanent exhibition are also given in English.
Disabled access?
The vast majority of the Universum® has disabled access. You can travel between the different floors using the lifts. We have also taken great care to make our exhibits as accessible as possible, and you shouldn’t have any problem with prams or pushchairs either.
The Air Tower in the outdoor area is, however, only accessible via a staircase.
Food
The KUBUS restaurant offers delicious soups, fresh salads, vegetarian dishes and of course something more substantial for when you’re really hungry. The café has a range of snacks, sandwiches and all sorts of things for when you’re feeling a little peckish. You can of course bring a packed lunch with you and eat it on the ground floor, but please refrain from eating in the exhibition areas.
Dogs?
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed!
WiFi
Free WiFi is available in our exhibition buildings (“Freies WLAN Bremen Universum”).
