HEART TIME

It’s HEART TIME at Universum®!

Begin an unusual journey of discovery through your most important organ: the heart! From 15 February to 15 May 2018, you can get up close and personal with this vital muscle and experience it with all your senses.

Two huge organ models illustrate the importance of our heart and how it works for us every single day. Crawl into the six-metre-long plastic artery or walk through the realistic 600 kg model heart!

Get to know important and startling facts about the heart and, if you wish, take part in one of the public pig heart dissections. The dissections take place on Saturdays and Sundays as well as public holidays at 2 and 4 pm daily.

You can also marvel at the dissected original hearts of different animals, from the mouse to the elephant. Any visitors from the age of ten upwards can embark on an exciting journey through the body, taking in totally unknown sights using VR glasses. How big is the heart compared to the stomach? How narrow is the aorta in contrast to an artery? And how extensively does our blood system branch out? Exciting and thrilling at the same time!

Extensive accompanying events such as senior afternoons and lectures as well as various sessions for school classes round off the HEART TIME experience.

A heartfelt project: the HEART TIME campaign is a collaboration between the Stiftung Bremer Herzen foundation, the AOK Bremen/Bremerhaven insurance company and Universum® Bremen.
Since last year, we have been inspiring school children on the subject of health with HELLO. THIS IS YOUR HEART SPEAKING. Our new HEART TIME offers are aimed at adults, families and senior citizens – after all, the heart is vital for us all!
